Transportation


Dial-A-Ride is free van service is available to Madison residents 5 days a week, Monday through Friday from 9:15 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. This service is curb-to-curb within the boundaries of Madison. There are 2 daily stops at Chateau Thierry housing between 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. All other residents, call 973-593-3095 between 8:30 -9 a.m. day of trip. The 12-passenger van has wheelchair lift. Passengers must have an aide if necessary. All passengers must wear seat belts.
                                
    Supermarket schedule:
  • Stop & Shop is a daily service between Monday - Friday. Drop off is at 10:30 a.m. and pick up is at 11:30 a.m. The second group is dropped off at 1 p.m. and picked up at 2 p.m.
  • Shop Rite: This service is offered 2 days per week on both Monday and Thursday. Drop off is at 10 a.m. with an 11 a.m. pick up.
    All riders must call between 8:30 and 9 a.m. for a ride to Shop Rite. Chateau Thierry residents need not call for Stop and Shop. Please carry a maximum of 4 bags in consideration of other riders. For those who need more time to shop, we suggest you consider 2 shopping days each week.

MAPS (Morris Area Paratransit System):
MAPS provides transportation for medical appointments throughout Morris County with stops at St. Barnabas Hospital, Overlook Hospital, and the Summit Medical Group. Call 973-829-8103 to preregister and reserve ride at least 1 week in advance.

Access Link:
NJ Transit transportation system for the disabled, comparable to the local fixed route bus system. Must apply for eligibility.  Call 800-955-2321 for guidelines and application.

Meals On Wheels


Deliveries are made to residents of Madison and Florham Park who are homebound due to illness or unable to prepare meals. Volunteers deliver on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. A $2 donation/meal is requested. Sponsored by the Morris County Nutrition Project. Registration is required by calling 973-593-3096.

 

Midday Friendship Center


Congregate meals provided by the Morris County Nutrition Project. Meals are served Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at 15 Chateau Thierry. Please call 973-822-3129 to reserve a space. There is a $2 donation per meal requested.

Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP)


SHIP offers health insurance, medical billing, and Medicare counseling services at the Madison Senior Center on Wednesdays by appointment. Please call 973-593-3095 to set up an appointment.

Stay Healthy


Certified gerontological nurse provides free help with staying well, home safety assessment, managing illness and medications. Last Tuesday of the month by appointment.  Call 973-593-3095.


Telephone Reassurance


Daily telephone calls are made to the elderly homebound living in Morris County. The program is staffed by volunteers who make daily calls to check on the well being of clients. To register call NORWESCAP, 973-784-4900, ext. 210. To volunteer at the Madison site, call 973-593-3095.
