Nature Nuts 2018

Registration Opens on Sunday, 6/24
Open House to be Held at Memorial Park from 1-3 PM

The Summer Nature Program, sponsored by the Madison Recreation Department and the Madison Parks Advisory Committee, is about to celebrate its 41st year. For over four decades children have been enjoying the outdoors while learning about their surrounding environment, including plants, animals and even weather patterns.

Children learn in an interactive way that leads them around the trails of Memorial Park, as well as, down the Passaic River. Each week is a different theme with a field trip planned for one day. Past field trips have included the Raptor Trust and the Frelinghuysen Arboretum where transportation is provided by the Madison area YMCA.  "Wonders of Water", "Wacky Weather",  "Animal Adventures" and "Recycle Olympics" have been a few of the themes.

The program begins Monday, June 25th and ends Thursday, July 26th. The first session at 9:00 to 10:15a.m. is geared for first and second graders. The second session  from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. is for third and fourth graders. The last session of the day is for the fifth and sixth graders which runs from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. It is recommended that youngsters put on sunscreen, wear sneakers and bring a water bottle.  The cost is $25.00 per child for the entire month. Children can register at any point during the program and attend any number of days.
