The Madison Public Library will be closed effective Monday, August 24 for approximately a week to 10 days for an asbestos abatement project. Staff will be available in the Library's Chase Auditorium so that the public can pick up books and media delivered from other libraries. The Library's bookdrop will remain open and staff will process the returned materials. The Chase Auditorium will be open Monday-Friday 10 am - 6 pm and Saturday 10 am - 1 pm. Madison Library cards may be used at the other public libraries in Morris County as well as Summit, New Providence, Berkeley Heights, Bernards Township and Bernardsville.
Open to parents, caregivers, and family of youth involved in the justice system interested in reforming the juvenile justice system in New Jersey. Registration is recommended, as food will be served. On August 8th, 9am-5pm New Jersey Parents' Caucus, a youth mental health/juvenile justice advocacy organization, is hosting a conference at Drew Theological School on the theme of Juvenile Incarceration. The goal of the event is to create awareness of issues impacting youth at the State level, as well as inform community members on effective advocacy tactics. The conference will include keynote speaker Theodore Shaw, Community Advocate at Southern Poverty Law Center, Alyson Clements, State Strategist at the National Juvenile Justice Network, and the New Jersey Parents Caucus Youth Coalition. Notice for residents on Ridgedale Avenue in Madison. Cifelli & Son Construction, the General Contractor retained by the Borough of Madison, intends to start the road improvements, weather conditions permitting, before the end of July and complete the project by October. Work will be phased to minimize access limitations for the public. Your cooperation is requested during the time of construction in order to minimize interruption of construction work and allow the contractor to finish as soon as possible. Temporary Parking on a minor local street within 1000 feet of your home/business may be anticipated with the cooperation of the Police Department. Emergency “NO PARKING” will be enforced by the Police Department during construction if vehicles impede progress. Specific scheduling problems may be directed to the office of the Borough Engineer. The Police Department can be contacted for traffic information and assistance.
