TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Due to a water main construction project on Ridgedale Avenue running behind schedule, a regional detour plan has been designed for the month of September which will affect those traveling to the High School and the Central Avenue School. Ridgedale Avenue between Burnet Road and Park Avenue will be closed and only accessible to local traffic. High School Parents/Students: Expect detours in the area. Travel to the High School by using Central Avenue or Burnet Road. The area of the High School will not be occupied by the water main contractor after the opening of school, however the County of Morris may perform a two day paving project on Ridgedale Avenue (north of Central Avenue) within the next 60 days (exact date unknown). Central Avenue School Parents: Expect detours in the area. Access to Walnut Street will be severely limited. Greenwood Avenue or Brittin Street are the preferred drop-off and pickup locations for the duration of the Ridgedale Avenue Water Main project. It is encouraged that students walk or ride a bicycle to school where possible. A police officer will be on-site during morning receiving hours and afternoon discharge hours at those preferred locations to assist crossing guards with any traffic issues. The water main construction contractor anticipates completion by the end of September. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION. THE BOROUGH OF MADISON

This year’s Water Main Replacement Program by the Borough of Madison (Water Department) includes construction work in Ridgedale Avenue in July and August. The improvements are permanent and the inconvenience will be temporary. The Borough of Madison awarded the construction contract to GARCIA CONSTRUCTION__973-773-4544 (General Utility Contractor). You may expect separate contacts from the Utility General Contractor during the course of the project and they will coordinate with residents in the immediate vicinity of work to minimize inconvenience. Water outages will be minimal since the new mains will be placed and tested before the existing mains are removed from service. Specific advance construction or scheduling problems may be directed to the office of the Borough Engineer. The Police Department can be contacted for traffic information and assistance. Finally, improving your infrastructure is important to the Borough. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION !
The Boiler Replacement contract at Hartley Dodge Memorial has been initiated and will continue through August at which point the Borough of Madison will be able to make use of the more efficient heat and hot water systems specified for Borough Hall.
