Samson Ave PAVING
This year’s Road Improvement Program by the Borough of Madison will include PAVING OPERATIONS ON FRIDAY, MAY 3, 2013, weather conditions permitting. Access to property will be restored within the day. Milling will be completed no more than 72 hours prior to paving, (Schedule May 1) but access during milling will not be compromised for more than one hour. Your cooperation is requested during the time of construction to remove/relocate the automobiles you intend to use by approximately 7:30 a.m. on paving days when the contractor is active on your street. This will minimize interruption of construction work and allow the contractor to finish as soon as possible. Temporary Parking on a minor local street within 1000 feet of your home/business may be anticipated with the cooperation of the Police Department. Emergency “NO PARKING” will be enforced by the Police Department during construction if vehicles impede progress. Specific scheduling problems may be directed to the office of the Borough Engineer. The Police Department can be contacted for traffic information and assistance. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION !
Rosedale Ave Improvements
The general contractor, TopLine Construction, retained by the Borough of Madison for Rosedale Ave Improvements, intends to begin work the week of April 15, 2013 and continue for approximately six weeks until complete. The project was the subject of five advertised public hearings and resident notices may be anticipated. Samson Ave Safe Routes Construction
The construction contractor retained by the Borough of Madison for the Samson Avenue sidewalk and road improvement has initiated work. His schedule indicates curb and sidewalk completion by April 24th and final mill, overlay, signage and striping by the end of the month. Notices have been distributed. NJ Transit Elm Street Overpass
Effective December 10th Elm Street is no longer a through-street due to bridge repairs being done by NJ Transit. The south side of Elm Street can be accessed via Madison Avenue and the north side via Park Avenue. Safety barriers have been placed around the bridge area both sides. This condition will exist for 4 to 6 months according to NJ Transit.
NJDOT Main Street Paving Notice
Main Street Rt124 between Seaman Street and Division Ave in the east portion of Madison. Lucas Construction (under NJDOT contract) is currently scheduled to start paving Main Street on Friday night (10/12) at 9pm to 8am and will also be paving Saturday night 9pm to 9am in the West Bound Direction starting in Chatham Borough and working towards Seaman Street in east Madison. Lucas will pave the shoulders first, then complete the travel lane. Two State Troopers will work with Lane for the duration of the project and local police have not been requested to assist by the State. The following week the paving crews intend to work east bound from Seaman Street in east Madison towards and into Chatham Borough. New signage and striping will complete the work next week. Safe Routes to School programs
The Madison Safe Routes to School initiative will join children and adults from around the world to celebrate the benefits of walking to school on the International Walk to School Day October 3, 2012. Public Service Gas Main Replacement
Starting Monday evening August 27, 2012, Public Service Electric & Gas Co. Inc. will be replacing gas main and service lines on Main Street (NJ RT 124) in Madison, NJ in the downtown district (between Madison and Prospect). A permit from New Jersey Department of Transportation was obtained. The work will be done from 9 PM through 6 AM, and will take roughly five weeks. Park Avenue Resurfacing
Morris County will be milling and paving Park Ave. from Madison Ave. to Danforth Rd. starting Tuesday, 8/14/12 through Friday, 8/17/12. Work will be from 8am Through 4PM. Affected Park Ave. Eastbound Traffic (Only) will be detoured at Danforth Ave. to Madison Ave.
