Tilcon NY, Inc, the Paving Contractor retained by the Borough of Madison to complete the resurfacing of several roads, intends to begin milling operations this month (two days) and paving operations initiated within 72 hours thereafter (three days) to complete the resurfacing project, weather conditions permitting. Work will be phased to minimize access limitations for the public. Woodland resurfacing is being coordinated with Chatham Twp so both municipalities can proceed at once. Property access during Milling will not be compromised for more than two hours at individual locations. Access during final Paving operations is normally restricted for one half day, with lane striping within 72 hours thereafter. Your cooperation is requested during the time of construction to remove/relocate the automobiles you intend to use by approximately 7:30 a.m. on final Paving days when the contractor is active in your vicinity. This will minimize interruption of construction work and allow the contractor to finish as soon as possible. Six roads including Morris Place, Danforth Road, Sherwood Ave, Longview Ave, Candlewood and Fox Chase Rd will be resurfaced under a Borough of Madison contract with Tilcon NY Inc scheduled to begin Monday May 18, 2015. Preparation of manholes and inlets will be apparent over the next two weeks. Public Service Electric & Gas Company will begin gas main replacement work on Ridgedale Avenue on April 22, 2015 in advance of the municipal road reconstruction work planned this summer. The PSE&G work will consist of 3,100 feet of a new gas main (ending at Central Avenue) followed by the replacement of individual gas services. Anticipate traffic delays and temporary traffic control signage. Individual residents may anticipate separate contacts from the utility company. PSEG anticipates a one month duration for the main replacement project.

Per Municipal Code 166-34, A residential property owner may apply to the Borough for partial reimbursement of the cost of replacement of an existing sidewalk or construction of a new sidewalk on land abutting a public street. The reimbursement shall be $15 per square yard. The reimbursement shall apply to sidewalk installation only and shall not apply to ancillary work such as landscaping, lawn sprinklers and electronic dog fences. The property owner shall submit to the Borough Engineer all bills associated with the project as well as evidence of payment to the contractor.
PAVING on Pine Tree, Durwood, Fletcher, Niles and North is now anticipated Thursday, November 13 and Friday November 14. TRAFFIC IMPACT NOTICE on Prospect Street (from Kings Rd to Main St), daytime, weather conditions permitting. Borough of Madison contractor Tilcon indicates the road milling project will begin on or about Thursday October 2, 2014 with completion of paving scheduled by Tuesday October 7, 2014. Commercial businesses should plan on minimizing all morning delivery vehicles on Prospect Street on paving day Monday October 6, 2014 due to lane closures. Resurfacing of these roads is being done in conjunction with the State resurfacing of Main Street (Rt124) anticipated to impact traffic night time beginning next week.
