Applications for Municipal Road Opening, Planning Board Site Plan, Subidivision Plan, Zoning Board Variances and Building Department Uniform Construction Permits are available online in each respective department website under the "Forms & Applications" bar in the right column. This improves availability, readability and processing time for both applicants and reviewers.
The Madison Water Main Replacement Program includes construction work on Green Village Road concluding in mid July. The County of Morris also intends to begin road improvements on Green Village Road in July, concluding with a paving project for its' entire length by August. Please plan trips accordingly, using Green Ave as a parallel alternate route whenever possible. The road improvements are permanent and the inconvenience will be temporary.
New Jersey Transit Rail has opened the Elm Street underpass to thru-traffic as of July 3rd and indicated there are a number of punchlist items that remain to be completed over the next two weeks, thereafter the project will be deemed substantially complete. NJT and the Borough thank the affected residents for their patience and cooperation during the construction project.
Three public contracts have been secured in order to replace the two 1722 MBH AO SMITH boilers in the boiler room at the rear ground floor of Hartley Dodge Memorial. Work on the boiler replacements starts Monday June 10, 2013 and the public may notice a part of the rear service entrance to the building occupied by contractors materials and equipment. The first two contracts concentrate on the demolition and removal of the existing boilers following strict environmental compliance measures. The last contract begins in July for installation of new boilers to heat the building and new hot water heating for the potable water system. The public should continue to use the Kings Rd front entrance or the Green Ave accessible entrance to the building.
Top Line Construction, the General Contractor retained by the Borough of Madison to complete the resurfacing of Rosedale Avenue, intends to begin milling operations on Thursday May 16, 2013 and paving operations the following Tuesday, May 21, weather conditions permitting. Due to the size of the project, several days will be required for each task, but work will be phased to minimize access limitations for Madison public. Property access along Rosedale Ave during milling will not be compromised for more than one hour at individual properties. Generally access during final paving operations is restricted for half a day in the direct vicinity of work. Your cooperation is requested during the time of construction to remove/relocate the automobiles you intend to use by approximately 7:30 a.m. on final paving days when the contractor is active in your vicinity. This will minimize interruption of construction work and allow the contractor to finish as soon as possible. Temporary Parking on a minor local street within 1000 feet of your home/business may be anticipated with the cooperation of the Police Department. Emergency “NO PARKING” will be enforced by the Police Department during construction if vehicles impede progress. Specific scheduling problems may be directed to the office of the Borough Engineer. The Police Department can be contacted for traffic information and assistance. The inconvenience is temporary but the improvements will last many years. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION !

The general contractor, TopLine Construction, retained by the Borough of Madison for Rosedale Ave Improvements, intends to begin work the week of April 15, 2013 and continue for approximately six weeks until complete. The project was the subject of five advertised public hearings and resident notices may be anticipated. The construction contractor retained by the Borough of Madison for the Samson Avenue sidewalk and road improvement has initiated work. His schedule indicates curb and sidewalk completion by April 24th and final mill, overlay, signage and striping by the end of the month. Notices have been distributed. Effective December 10th Elm Street is no longer a through-street due to bridge repairs being done by NJ Transit. The south side of Elm Street can be accessed via Madison Avenue and the north side via Park Avenue. Safety barriers have been placed around the bridge area both sides. This condition will exist for 4 to 6 months according to NJ Transit.
