Sustainable Lawns

On March 2 2013 Madison Environmental Commission and Recreation Advisory Committee co-­‐sponsor a free workshop on “Sustainable Lawns: Work Smarter for a Healthier Lawn,” at 10 AM ‐ 12:30 PM at the Chase Room in the Madison Public Library. Lawn Fertilization Ban

Please note that the NJ Fertilizer Rules are now in place. As of Nov 15th there is a ban in place on any lawn fertilization. This ban continues through March 1st. Also as of January 1 2013, only certified lawn professionals can apply phos containing lawn fertilizers and all fertilizers sold over the counter will have no-phosphorus and contain 20% slow release nitrogen. Madison Environmental Commission Mtg

In compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act, the Borough of Madison Environmental Commission issues this notification of a change to the 2012 regularly scheduled meetings. The Environmental Commission of the Borough of Madison in the County of Morris and State of New Jersey will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012, in the 2nd Floor Committee Room of the Hartley Dodge Memorial, Kings Road, Madison, New Jersey. 2012 Green Fair May 3rd

The 3rd annual Green Fair is set for May 3rd (May 10 as a rain date). The event is sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 25 and the Madison Environmental Commission and will once again be located in front of the Museum in downtown. DEP Lawn Fertilizer Regulations

In order to protect waterways, residents cannot apply fertilizers containing nitrogen or phosphorus to their lawns until next spring (March 1, 2012). The ban went into effect on December 1. For more information, please visit http://www.nj.gov/dep/healthylawnshealthywater/

Rescheduled Meeting

The November meeting of the Madison Environmental Commission has been rescheduled and will take place on December 1, 2011 at 7:30pm in Hartley Dodge Memorial.

MEC Meeting Rescheduled

Green Fair this Thursday!

The 2nd Annual Green Fair is this Thursday, from 3:30pm - 7:30pm in front of the Museum on the corner of Green Village and Main Street. Over 40 exhibitors will be showcasing ways to green your home and your lifestyle. The event is organized by Boy Scout Troop 25 and the Madison Environmental Commission, with PSEG as the presenting sponsor.
