What does the Health Department do?
Municipal Registrar: The Madison Health Department has two registrars that assist residents with pet licesnsing, death and marriage certificates and marriage licesnse applications. They also assist with any complaints.
Environmental Health: The Madison Health department has two Registered Environmental Health Speciallists work to ensure that proper handling of food is maintained in all retail food establishments and investigate complaints from residents about housing, animals, noise etc.
Public Health Nursing: The Madison Health Department has two nurses who administer vaccines, investigate communicable diseases, promote and administer health screenings and monitor immunizations in schools.
Health Education: Madison's Health Educator works to inform the community on current health issues and act as a point of reference for health education. Specific areas of focus are preventative efforts for drug and alcohol abuse, health lifestlye promotion and planning and continuation of programs in the community.
