Open Positions:

Confidential Secretary, Finance/Personnel Departments

The Borough of Madison is accepting applications for a full time Confidential Secretary with a salary range of $45,212-$55,000.  Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer and Personnel Officer, the Confidential Secretary will assist in processing accounts payable including the bill list, check disbursement, and special projects.   Duties also include assisting the Personnel Officer with payroll, the interview process and other HR projects as needed.   Applicants must have an Associates degree and a minimum of two (2) years experience in administrative, payroll and/or bookkeeping environment. Executive Assistant to Mayor and Administrator:

The Borough of Madison is accepting applications for an Executive Assistant to Mayor and Administrator with a salary range of $54,246 -$63,819.  The successful candidate will perform responsible and confidential administrative assistance as needed for the Mayor and the Administrator including but not limited to preparation of budgetary documents, coordination of activities and programs, public relations, and departmental purchasing in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.  An Associates Degree and at least three years of administrative office experience (or two years administrative experience in municipal government) are required.  Excellent communication, computer and people skills are required.  Interested applicants must complete a Borough application available on-line at under Personnel, Job Opportunities. Wastewater Operator:

The Madison-Chatham Joint Meeting, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is seeking an Entry Level Licensed Operator for its Wastewater Treatment Facility. The applicant must also have the ability to obtain an S-1 License within 12 months of hire.  The applicant shall operate various equipment and instruments used in the sampling, analysis, and processing of wastewater and biosolids. The applicant must also be prepared to respond to the facility for after hour emergencies within 30 minutes and possess a valid NJ driver’s license. The salary range is $40,000 to $50,000.  Related or transferable experience is suggested but not required. School Crossing Guard:

The Borough of Madison is now accepting applications for the position of substitute School Crossing Guard. The position is a part-time position with a salary range of $17.82-$19.82 per hour. No benefits.
